A presentation of “Compendium on Science & Research Cooperation between the European Union and the Russian Federation” was held at the Residence of Delegation of the European Commission to Russia, in Moscow on 19 May 2009.

The Compendium is addressed at scientists and research organizations in the EU and in Russia who are interested in cooperation with each other, and at policy-makers and science managers who require an overview of the agreements & programmes which underpin scientific cooperation between the EU and its Member States and Russia.

The main objectives of this Compendium are:
- To guide through the science cooperation agreements and instruments with Russia at the level of the EU as well as at the level of the 27 EU Members States,
- To use many opportunities which exist for research cooperation between the EU and Russia, and so as to contribute to the realisation of the 4th Common EU-Russia Space on a practical level,
- To provide overview information about the support which is a available for science cooperation between the EU and its Members States and Russia and also contains summary information about some select pan-European and International organizations.

“There is no doubt that our cooperation with Russia in the area of science is a vibrant and increasingly important part of our overall relationship with Russia. This is reflected in the EU’s and Russia’s shared commitment to work towards the creation of a Common Space in Research and Education, including Cultural Matters”, says Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Russia - H.E. Marc Franco.
